If STORMp3 water-resistant MP3 Player seems like a godsend to those of us who love music; it’s only because it pretty much is. True music lovers tend to have music everywhere. In the car, at the gym, at work even in the shower!
The big challenge is that often time the only way to get music in your shower is with your phone or some other MP3 device to get your tunes while you suds yourself up.
I had a badass shower CD player (Remember CD’s? My first was Janet Jackson’s Control). It hung off the shower head, skipped occasionally, and messed up a few of my CDs – but still – that thing was badass. Alas, that shower player disappeared along with my CDs when Limewire and iPods took over.
Well it would possibly be accurate to say that I was giddy as a teen with their first crush upon receiving my STORMp3, a water-resistant mp3 player made by ToiletTree Products. Yup, ToiletTree products. They specialize in designing and manufacturing bath products, so the name is actually quite fitting.
Let me state up front that the STORMp3 player is not waterproof, so don’t get any idea of submerging it in your hot tub or anything like that. But let’s get to the meat and potatoes of this really nifty gadget!
First for the boring tech specs:

- 2 GB of internal memory (holds approximately 500 songs of average length and quality) – not so true for me

- Includes 4 AA batteries, for approximately 73 hours of play time (this would allow for a year’s worth of 12 minute showers without having to change the batteries!)

What I Say:
I opened it up and didn’t get overwhelmed by a million cords, manuals, or trinkets that I didn’t know what to do with. It was just the STORMp3, a USB cord to connect to your commuter, 4 AA batteries, and a wall mounting kit.
Before I put the STORMp3 into my shower, I had to load it up with music. I have to say, it’s WAY easier to put music on this thing that it is to put music onto my phone! Seriously, all you do is drag your music files from your music folder to the STORMp3 folder. That’s it!
I was a little disappointed at the amount of music I was able to put on the player. After loading on about 100 songs, it was full. 100 songs is a good amount considering that a lot of them were mixes by Dave Stylus from Mix966FM, but when you listen to music as much as I do, a rotation of 100 songs gets old pretty quickly. Ah well, I’ll just have to change the music on it every now and then. At least it’s easy to do!
So I went into the shower and took the unit with me. Had I mentioned how easily portable the STORMp3 is? Well it is. I’ve even thrown it into my back pack and took it on a recent trip with me since I don’t have an iPhone and all the ports in the hotels are for iPhones and not Samsung Galaxy phones but that’s another issue.
Of course when I’m in the shower I like to turn up the sound and let me tell you, this small unit makes a big noise no doubt! Big enough to have the neighbors across the street take notice. I think I may have gotten three quarters of the way up before I had to back it down a bit.
According to the specs the STORMp3 is supposed to automatically shuffle the songs, but this feature is a little lackluster. It was kind of going in alphabetical order and shuffling every now and then. Luckily, the buttons are easy to push so I was able to skip when I wanted to. Then again, I have a lot of music, so 100 songs probably only got me midway through C’s – so maybe it’s shuffling as best it can with my music collection.
