Prince Albert opens supercar show in Monaco

Evantra_poster50cmTop Marques Monaco supercar show was opened by His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco on Thursday.

The supportive monarch stayed for several hours looking at the cars, motorcycles, electric bikes, helicopters, tenders and luxury goods on display. For the first time, the Prince who as patron, usually opens the show each year, requested a second low key visit in the afternoon to give him chance to continue looking around at the exclusive items available.

One of the exhibitors Mando Footloose gave the Prince an electric bike which His Serene Highness sat on at the show and seemed very pleased to receive.

The clever bike is described as an electric car on two wheels and uses automotive technology to charge the battery through pedalling, controlling all its functionality with software. The bike can also be folded for use by commuters.

Other happy exhibitors included David Brown Automotive who had three very interested parties trial their supercars in the first day alone.

Hamann Motorsport sold sold one of their supercars on Friday for a cool 399,000€ and had to cancel test drives over the weekend because the new owner wanted to enjoy the high performance car himself.

Luxury water toys also sold three of their power surfboards on the first day. Designed by F1 engineers they produce the most powerful surfboards ever built and give an excellent example of the synergy between water and road technology.

Following a meeting at the Monaco Yacht show last year the Superyacht Owners’ Guide was invited to be a media partner of the show.

Talking with Suzanna Chambers from Top Marques Monaco, the luxury annual publication discovered that the Top Marques show catalogue was inspired by the look and feel of the Superyacht Owners’ Guide.

Sarrah Macey, marketing communications and events executive from the Superyacht Owners’ Guide said, “It is a great honour that our book was inspiration for this international event.

Attending the show for the first time this year this has been an excellent opportunity to further explore the close relationship between the world of supercars and superyachts.

The event has been a huge success and we look forward to working with Top Marques Monaco next year.

“As well as the beautiful supercars on display I also particularly like the Lauge Jensen hand built motorcycles which I first spotted at Cannes Yachting Festival.

Their design is superb and the roar of the engine gives you goosebumps – especially when fired up in the middle of the Gimaldi Forum!

I also spoke with UK company Envisage Group who specialise in total automotive personalisation. Their team of experts can help interested parties design their own motor vehicle which they then manufacture in the heartland of the British motor industry.

I can see this being very popular with the superyacht community who are used to designing their dream luxury yachts to very specific requirements.”

Top Marques Monaco have already released show dates for next year, so put 16th – 19th April in your diary to take a peek at this exclusive event.
