AUTOS: The BMW i8 Hybrid Has Fricken Laser Beams For Headlights!
It’s not a shark with a laser beam on its head, (yes, Austin Powers was just on) but the new BMW i8 plug-in hybrid sports car will offer laser headlights in late 2014. The carmaker says the i8 will be the first production application of laser headlamps on a car. The system is quite complex and is only available for high-beam use, according to BMW. The 83rd International Geneva Motor Show kicked off this week with the new supercar from Italian automaker Lamborghini unveiled. It is ridiculously expensive at $3.9 million (Lamborghini Veneno) and extremely limited (3 Venenos). In the year of its 50th anniversary Lamborghini is presenting an extremely exclusive model at the Geneva Motor Show 2013. Only three unique units of the Lamborghini Veneno will be built and sold. With a maximum output of 552 kW / 750 hp, the Veneno accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and the top speed for this street-legal racing car stands at 355 km/h.
